Learning Buffet #1
For this Learning Buffet me and a couple of friends decided to go to the Salt Lake Greek Festival. It was hosted by the Holy Trinity Cathedral Greek Orthodox Church in downtown. I skipped lunch so I can try out a lot of the food there and I was amazed by how good the food was. I got Dolmathes, a Gyro, Calamari, and a Greek Salad. The food had a lot of vibrant taste to it and it made me want to get even more. The only thing bad experience i had with the food was the texture of the Calamari because it just felt weird in my mouth. For dessert I had the Nescafé Frappé which was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. Overall the food was great and I would eat it anytime I get another chance to. We were watching people performing the dances and it was pretty entertaining to watch. My favorite one was the Kalamatiano because it looks like a fun dance to do and it stood out to me from the other dances. It was very crowded in there also and there was barely any seats so we ate outside then came in to watch the dances and other stuff. I saw a spit roast of what I think it looked like a goat or lamb, it looked very tasty and I wanted to try it but the price was a little heavy. The festival also showed me how Greek people look, it’s really hard to tell if someone is Greek and now I have a decent understanding. I had a really fun time there and after we went explored downtown for a bit. The whole experience was good because it’s always fun to learn about other cultures and how they differ and relate to others. Dolmathes are also in my culture but it has its own different flavor and I wouldn't have known Greeks ate it until I went to the festival, food is one thing anyone can enjoy with each other. I feel like more cultures should do stuff like this because it can bring people together and get a better understanding of one another. I'm also happy this class brought me to that Festival so now I can go to more have more fun.

Interviewer - Yousif Hassan
Worker - Josh Gieigle
Where do you work?
Kentucky Fried Chicken.
What do you do there?
Food Packer / Prep.
How long have you worked at KFC?
3 Months.
What is the best part of your job?
I get a lot of free food.
What is the worst part about your job?
Having to deal with a lot of rude customers and working the dinner rush.
Overall, is your job pretty easy or hard?
Pretty easy because I work with a lot of friends and the only time it really gets busy is the dinner rush. Other than that it’s really laid back.
Does working with friends decrease performance or make you distracted?
Only sometimes when we all are messing around.
Would you get more work done if you didn’t work with friends?
Most likely yes.
Is this a job you would recommend to others?
No, because it doesn’t pay that good for what you have to do and deal with, also dealing with rude customers is a pain.
Is working at another restaurant something you would consider?
After this, I ’ll never work at a restaurant again.
Would working the food industry be more or less stressful than other industries?
More stressful because some people get really mad about their food even if the smallest thing is out of place and you have to get the food out quick with quality.
